Recombinant protein production in urine |
abstract |
The present invention provides methods which generate a polypeptide that is secreted into the urine by using the uromodulin gene promoter, or other promoters from genes whose products are specifically expressed in the kidney , to direct the expression of the secreted polypeptide. Also disclosed is a transgenic animal secreting a recombinant polypeptide into its urine, as wel l as a method for detecting such an animal while the animal is in utero. Also disclosed are methods for generating a polypeptide that is secreted into the conditioned media of cultured kidney cells transformed with a polypeptide- encoding nucleic acid sequence that is operably linked to a uromodulin gene promoter, or other kidney specific gene promoter. |
