Disclosed is a process for the catalytic hydroformylation of an olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal of transition group 8 of the Periodic Table and a ligand of the formula I: (see formula I) (wherein X is As, Sb, or P; R1a-d and R2a-d are H, a hydrocarbon radical or an alkoxy group; Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 are O, S, NR7 or CR7R8, where R7 and R8 have the meanings of R1a; n, m, o and p are each 0 or 1, with the proviso that either o or p is 1: Y is -O-R5, -COOR5, -COOM, -SR5, -NR5R6, -N=CR5R6, -COR5, -CONR5R6, -F, -Cl, -Br or -I, where R5 and R6 are H or a hydrocarbon radical and M is H, Li, Na, K or NH4; and Z1 and Z2 are a hydrocarbon radical and Z1 and Z2 can be covalently linked). |
