titleOfInvention Controlled release preparation
abstract Preparations with controlled release containing at least one medicinally active ingredient which are composed of a male piece and a female piece engaging with each other and active substance(s) encapsulated therein, characterized in that the male and female pieces are made of a material gelling in the intestinal juice. It is preferable that the male and female pieces contain ethyl acrylate/methyl meth-acrylate/trimethylammonium ethyl chloride methacrylate copolymer and the female piece comprises a water-insoluble polymer. In these preparations, the male piece gels and becomes water-permeable within a relatively neutral pH region and thus drug(s) are released pulsatively, which makes it possible to allow the drug(s) to exert the action in a limited part, for example, the lower part of the small intestine or the large intestine, or to deliver peptide(s) to the limited part without being digested.
