abstract The invention relates to the use of a proline-rich sequence for improve the fusogenic character of a protein comprising a glycoprotein envelope retroviral of an amphotropic MLV or an envelope glycoprotein retroviral of an MLV 10A1 or a retroviral envelope glycoprotein of GALV or a retroviral envelope glycoprotein of a xenotropic MLV or a retroviral envelope glycoprotein of an MLV MCF or a glycoprotein retroviral envelope of a FeLV, which proline-rich sequence corresponds: either to the proline-rich sequence; glycoprotein retroviral envelope of an amphotropic MLV, or, glycoprotein retroviral envelope of an MLV MCF; envelope glycoprotein retroviral of an MLV 10A1; of the retroviral envelope glycoprotein of a GALV; or retroviral envelope glycoprotein of a xenotropic MLV; or from the retroviral envelope glycoprotein of an FeLV; and has at least one mutation such that at least one .beta.-turn is removed from the propeller polyproline of the proline-rich sequence; either to the sequence rich in proline of the retroviral envelope glycoprotein of an ecotropic MLV.
