The invention relates to new bleaching and disinfecting compositions containing .SIGMA. based on the composition .SIGMA. (a) 1.0 to 6.0% by weight alkali metal hypochlorites, (b) 0.1 to 10.0% by weight ether carboxylates corresponding to formula (I): R[OCH2CH2]u[O(CH2)x CH(R')(CH2)y CH(R")(CH2)z]v[OCH2CH2]w OCH2COOM (I) in which R is a hydrocarbon radical containing 6 to 28 carbon atoms, a and v may be the same or different and stand for numbers of 0 to 30, a being 0 when v is 0, w is a number of 1 to 30, the sum of u+v+w being ~ 30, x, y and z independently of one another have a value of 0 or 1, R' and R" independently of one another represent hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, the sum of x+y+z being >0 when R' = R" = H, M is an alkali or alkaline earth metal, and (c) 0.5 to 2.0% by weight alkali and/or alkaline earth metal hydroxides, with the proviso that the quantities of components (a) to (c) add up to 100% by weight with water and, optionally, other surfactants, auxiliaries and additives, the ratio by weight of the ether carboxylates (b) to these other surfactants being more than 3:1. The preparations reduce the viscosity and foaming of hypochlorite solutions. |
