abstract | The present invention provides an isolated and purified Nip, Nix and Nox proteins. There is also provided a method for inducing apoptosis in cells by transfecting a cell with a Nip, Nix and Nox proteins. Additionally, there is provided a method for inducing apoptosis in cells by creating antibodies which recognize a specific Nip, Nix and Nox proteins in a muscle or skin of a patient. A method for inducing apoptosis in cells by creating a transgene overexpressing the gene for the Nip, Nix and Nox proteins is also provided. A transgenic animal and progeny thereof is provided having an expression factor consisting essentially of a Nip, Nix and Nox proteins selected from the group consisting essentially of Seq. ID No:1 through 6. |
