The invention relates to 4-substituted 2-pyrrolidinone derivatives used as a therapeutic active substance. Astonishingly, said compounds were found to be able to lower the level of extracellular glutamate in a substantial manner. Said compounds are suitable for use in prophylaxis and the treatment of a plurality of diseases, especially cerebral apoplexy. |
