Pure phthalides are produced from the reaction mixtures obtained in the phthalide production process by a) distilling off compounds with a boiling point below the boiling point of the phthalide from the reaction mixture, if such compounds are present, to obtain a residue of crude phthalide, and b) crystallising phthalide from a melt of the crude phthalide. |
