titleOfInvention Artificial snow and method of making the same
abstract A moldable composition and method of making the same, the composition including a binding mixture and filler in the form of crystalline, irregular, approximately polygonally shaped particles. The binding mixture preferably includes polyvinyl-based binders such as polyvinyl alcohol, water, a cross- linking agent such as borax, and a humectant such as propylene glycol. Furthermore, a cellulose-based thickener may be added to the binding mixture, as may a pH-adjusting compound such as sodium carbonate. The crystalline particles preferably are ground styrene having a maximum dimension ranging from one-half to three millimeters.
