abstract | The present invention relates to a composition and a method of processing a composition containing (a) 100 parts by weight of an elastomer containing olefinic unsaturation selected from the group consisting of conjugated diene homopolymers and copolymers and from copolymers of at least one conjugated diene and aromatic vinyl compound; (b) from 10 to 150 phr of a silica; (c) from 0.1 to 15 phr of a sulfur containing organosilicon compound of the formula Z-Alk-S n-Alk-Z I in which Z is selected from the group consisting of and where R1 is an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, cyclohexyl or phenyl; R2 is alkoxy of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or cycloalkoxy of 5 to 8 carbon atoms; Alk is a divalent hydrocarbon of 1 to 18 carbon atoms and n is an integer of 2 to 8; and (d) from 0.1 to 10 phr of a tin organoacid salt selected from the group consisting of compounds of the formula and where R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of alkyls having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, alkenyls having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms and aryls and alkaryls having from 6 to 20 carbon atoms. |
