titleOfInvention | Procedure for treating a lithium cell battery in preparation for recycling its constituent materials |
abstract | The invention relates to a treatment method. used batteries, including lithium and a active cathode material chosen from oxides of transition metal; which includes the steps following successive: - disassembly of the external boot the accumulator; - immersion of the accumulator with stirring and under an inert gas atmosphere in a selected alcohol among the alcohols derived from linear alkanes or branched comprising at least 3 carbon atoms, so to disperse the constituents of the accumulator, and form a lithium alcoholate by reaction of lithium metallic accumulator with alcohol; - separation of solid materials; - reaction of said transition metal oxide with said lithium alcoholate until a transition metal oxide "lithiated or superlithiated"; - separation of insoluble elements including the transition metal oxide "lithiated or superlithiated" and carbon, and soluble elements comprising lithium salts and electrolyte; - recovery in the form of oxide powders of lithiated or superlithiated transition metal and carbon; - evaporation of residual alcohol remaining in said powders; - rinsing and drying of the powders obtained. |
