titleOfInvention Modular tower tooling system
abstract A modular-fixturing system utilizes at least one spacer tube (14) which includes a tubular member (32) having opposite ends closed by cover members (34a, 34b). Through-holes (36a, 36b) in at least one of the cover members are configured to receive fasteners (38, 66) in order to fasten spacer tubes together in a tower configuration. An access opening (40) is provided in the tubular member and configured to provide access to the cover member through-holes inside the tubular member by either a tool or by the fingers of the user. Fastener inserts (50) are provided to engage through-openings (48a, 48b) in the spacer tubes. Each insert has an enlarged head (52), an elongated body (54) and an axial opening (56) extending through the head and the body for receiving fasteners (62, 64) in order to interconnect other components to the spacer tubes.
