abstract |
A system (100) for performing partial liquid ventilation comprising a patient connector (114) capable of establishing fluid conducting communication with pulmonary air passages of a patient (112), a ventilating circuit sealingly affixed to said patient connector (114) whereby a gas flow path capable of transporting an inspiratory gas into the pulmonary air passages and removing subsequently generated expiratory gases, said ventilating circuit operably associated with a mechanical ventilator (120); a vapor retainer (160) in fluid conducting communication with said gas flow path whereby said inspiratory gas and said expiratory gas alternately pass through said vapor retainer (160); and a liquid or vapor respiraroty promoter dispersed in said gas flow path. |
