titleOfInvention | Antisense oligonucleotide chemotherapy for benign hyperplasia or cancer of the prostate |
abstract | Methods of selectively inhibiting the growth of or killing prostatic cells, using antisense oligonucleotides to prostate specific genes, are disclosed. The oligonucleotides may have natural nucleic acid structures or may be modified oligonucleotides with enhanced stability or tissue specific targeting. The prostate specific genes to which the antisense may be directed include the PSA and the probasin gene. Pharmaceutical compositions including such antisense oligonucleotides are also described for use in the methods. The methods and products are of particular utility in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia or prostate cancer. |
