abstract |
Methods and apparatus for transferring two 4-wire analog data signals over a single twisted pair line. The two 4-wire analog data signals are converted into a multiplexed binary signal, the multiplexed binary signal is converted into a 2-wire digital encoded signal; the 2-wire digital encoded signal is transferred over a single twisted pair to a second location; and at the second location, the 2-wire digital signal is converted to a multiplexed binary signal, and the multiplexed binary signal is converted to two 4-wire analog data signals. The apparatus includes an easily installed dual 4-wire analog data central office terminal (100) and a dual 4-wire analog data remote terminal (110). The apparatus can provide a 4:1 pair gain by multiplexing signals representing the 4-wire analog data signals. |
