abstract | The invention relates to processes for producing di-(tertiary aminoalkyl) carbonate including the step of reacting a tertiary alkanolamine with methyl alkyl carbonate in the presence of a transesterification catalyst to form tertiary aminoalkyl alkyl carbonate, wherein some of the tertiary alkanolami ne reacts with the tertiary aminoalkyl alkyl carbonate to form di-(tertiary aminoalkyl) carbonate. The invention also relates to processes for producing di-(tertiary aminoalkyl) carbonate including the steps of (i) reacting dimethyl carbonate with an alcohol in the presence of a transesterification catalyst to form a methyl alkyl carbonate, and (ii) reacting a tertiary alkanolamine with the methyl alkyl carbonate formed in step (i) in the presence of a transesterification catalyst to form tertiary aminoalkylalkyl carbonate, wherein some of the tertiary alkanolamine reacts with the tertiar y aminoalkyl alkyl carbonate to form di-(tertiary aminoalkyl) carbonate.</SDOA B> |
