abstract A computer-controlled sawing system (10) having a suspension beam (30) and linear bearings (110, 112) for supporting a respective power saw (26), and an angular positioner (86, 88, 90, 92, 94, 96, 98, 100, 102, 104, 106) for angularly rotating the power saw about an axis (86) offset from the rotating axis of the saw blades, a pair of material conveyors (32, 44) angled upwardly toward the back of the sawing system to provide easy loading of material thereon. A front portion of each material conveyor includes an enclosed take-up mechanism (184) that is compact and allows the material conveyors to be placed close together for cutting short lengths of boards.
