abstract |
A method for engine start-up reducing white smoke and the start-to-idle time. The method includes the combination of producing two sub-fuel injections into the cylinders of the internal combustion engine at different points in the rotational position of at least one camshaft of the engine and reducing the number of combusting cylinders in half. The two sub-fuel injections reduce the start-to-idle time. Once the engine is idling, the half cylinder operation reduces the white smoke emitted therefrom. The two sub-fuel injections are also employed when in half cylinder operation to reduce noise. |
