abstract The present invention relates to a skin engaging member (12) for use in a razor blade cartridge assembly (1) or shaving systems of the wet shave type comprising an elongated flexible sheath (14) region and at least one elongated, rigid core (13) region. The core (13) region is surrounded by the sheath (14) such that the outer surface of the core (13) does not intersect the outer surface of the sheath (14). Generally, the core (13) or cores extend axially throughout the sheath (14) and provide sufficient mechanical strength and rigidity to provide adequate mechanical strength to the entire skin engaging member (12), as initially produced, during the shaving operation and after a significant amount of shaves.
