Chimeric genes and method for increasing the threonine content of the seeds of plants |
abstract |
A chimeric gene encoding a bifunctional feedback-insensitive aspartokinasehomoserine dehydrogenase (AK-HDH), is operably linked to a plant chloroplast transit sequence, and to plant seed-specific regulatory sequences. The chimeric gene is transformed into plants wherein increased levels of free threonine accumulate in the seeds. |
