abstract The invention relates to an integrated process for the purification of industrial effluents and / or urban areas containing a significant proportion of soluble organic matter and / or in suspension, according to which said effluents in an oxidation reactor (10) in a humid environment in which the said effluents are subjected to oxidation in the presence of minus an oxidizing gas so as to mineralize a part significant amount of organic matter contained in the said effluents, in producing on the one hand a gaseous phase (13) and on the other hand a phase essentially liquid (12) mainly containing organic matter soluble residual as well as a solid phase essentially mineral suspension, characterized in that a step of liquid / solid separation of said essentially liquid phase said reactor to isolate said solid phase, and in that one recycles, in said wet oxidation reactor, at least one fraction of said separated solid phase (26). The process may know different variants corresponding to the addition of a catalyst and / or means acidification of the recycled solid phase fraction. The installations can operate continuously or semicontinuously.
