abstract The present invention comprises new methods for treating rheumatoid arthritis. It has been found that the Ltype calcium channel antagonists are effective in treating arthritis. Dihydropyridines, phenylalkylamines, and benzyldiazepines are examples of the classes of L-type calcium channel antagonists encompassed by the invention. Nimodipine, nisoldipine, nifedipine, verapamil and diltiazem are examples of specific compounds useful in the present invention.
