titleOfInvention | Heat-resistant polyurethane/polyurea foam |
abstract | This invention relates to a process for preparing a heat-resistant polyurethane/polyurea foam by reacting, at an isocyanate index of 100 to 115, (a) an organic polyisocyanate with (b) 40 to 65% by weight, based on the total amount of components (b), (c), and (d), of an isocyanate-reactive compound containing two or more isocyanate-reactive groups and having a number average molecular weight of from 400 to 10,000; (c) 10 to 30% by weight, based on the total amount of components (b), (c), and (d), of an isocyanate-reactive compound containing two or more isocyanate-reactive groups other than amino groups and having a molecular weight of from 32 to 399; (d) 5 to 35% by weight, based on the total amount of components (b), (c), and (d), of an organic amine containing at least one amino group having a moderated reactivity toward the organic polyiso-cyanate, as indicated by a gel time exceeding about 5 seconds measured from the material initiation time at 25-40°C, and having a number average molecular weight of 86 to 400, said organic amine being selected from (1) sterically hindered aromatic amines in which one or more aromatic ring substituents are ortho to the amino groups, (2) aromatic amines other than amines (d)(1) in which at least one of the amino groups exhibits reduced reactivity due primarily to electronic effects rather than steric factors, (3) amines having secondary amino groups, (4) non-aromatic amines having sterically hindered primary amino groups, and (5) mixtures thereof; and (e) optionally, rigid fibers. |
