titleOfInvention Current limiter
abstract The invention relates to a device for limiting overload currents using a semiconductor element (1) with at least one controllable semiconductor (3) with electron source (source), electron acceptor (drain) and electron-flow control electrode (gate) that has characteristic curves typical of a field effect transistor (FET:3). In the case of alternating voltage, two FETs are connected antiserially. Means are provided so that the control voltage needed to drive the semiconductor element (1) can be derived internally from at least a part of the load current and/or from at least a part of the voltage drop over the semiconductor element.
