Method for permanently reducing wood hardness by in situ polymerization of prepolymers |
abstract |
A wooden article is placed in a vacuum autoclave to remove the air it contains. Then, the solution containing a wood preservative, a water-soluble crosslinkable prepolymer and a polymerization initiator is introduced into the autoclave. The polymerization is carried out to form a polymer network in the wooden article under an atmosphere generally free of oxygen, while the condom is attached to the wood. The result is a wood item with permanently reduced hardness and increased humidity at equilibrium. |
