abstract |
A fiberscope (36) is connected with one or more of a pivoted eyepiece (40), a cannula insertion assembly (42) capable of housing a retractable fiber bundle (48) and/or delivering distention fluid, a disposable sheath (45) and seal assembly and an encasement (60) for a fiber bundle (48). The distal end (48a) of the encased fiber bundle (48) can be advanced or withdrawn from its protective sheath (45). When advanced, it may be reoriented in a direction by means of linkage to structure which can be manipulated from outside the instrument |
