The invention relates to a process for the hydroxyalkylation of aldoximes and ketoximes by reacting said oximes with unsubstituted or substituted ethylene or propylene carbonate in the presence of a catalyst, which comprises the use of catalytic amounts of aN-alkylated, stable, organic amidine base or a pyridine which is substituted by a secondary amino group. The compounds are important intermediate for the synthesis of herbicides. |
