titleOfInvention | Guide assembly and method |
abstract | An anchor (A) or guide assembly (GA) connects with workstring (WS) that may include a drill string (DS). The guide assembly (GA) includes an internal tubula r member (ITM) to releasably connect with the workstring (WS). A tube (CT) is within the internal tubular member (ITM). The internal tubular member (ITM) is releasably secured wi th an outer tubular member (OTM). The internal tubular member (ITM) is releasably secu red with an anchor surface. The workstring (WS) is released from the internal tubular mem ber (ITM) to move relative to the guide assembly (GA) to extend the tube (CT) from the int ernal tubular member (ITM) for performing various operations. Orienting sub (38) enables opera tions to be performed at various azimuths and directions from a location, and in this eve nt the outer tubular member (OTM) includes a heel window (58) and a face window (57) and the internal tubular member (ITM) has articulations (55', 55") to bend the internal tubular m ember (ITM) or tube (CT) therein laterally to direct the tube (CT) laterally of a loca tion when the workstring (WS) is lowered. |
