abstract | A storage unit for CD discs comprises a box-like housing (11) in which is mounted a vertical spaced array of horizontally disposed sleds (31). The sleds slide in and out of the housing on tracks (25) provided in the housing side walls (15). Conventional CD jewel boxes (51) are retained on the sleds and a rod (71) engaging the underside of the lid (59) of each jewel box (51) passes through the jewel box (51) with its ends engaged in a groove (25, 27) formed in the side walls (15) of the unit. The grooves (27) are configured to move the rod (71) vertically away from the sled (31) as the sled (31) is moved out from the housing (11). The vertical movement of the rod (71) forces the lid (59) of the CD up, giving the user access to the CD stored in the jewel box (51). |
