titleOfInvention Selective clogging of failed fibers
abstract A method of selectively clogging failed hollow fibers of a membrane module packed together with a plurality of non-failed fibers in a shell-and-bore arrangement comprises: (i) Holding the module vertically and bringing the module end into contact with a liquid sealant; (ii) Causing the liquid sealant to rise into the failed fibers to a height greater than that of the failure; (iii) Allowing the sealant to solidify at least partially; (iv) Cutting off a length of the fiber bundle of such height that non-failed fibers bores are exposed while failed fibers remain clogged.
