titleOfInvention | Process for working up fatty alcohol alkyl polyglycoside solutions |
abstract | ABSTRACT Process for working up fatty alcohol alkyl polyglycoside solutions A process for separating alkyl polyglycosides from an acidic solution thereof in alcohols, wherein the alkyl groups of the alkyl polyglycosides and alcohols have 8 to 24 carbon atoms is disclosed. The process comprises adjusting pH of the solution to a value of from 10 to 14 and maintaining the solution at a con-trolled temperature of from 60 to 120°C for at least 2 hours. The fatty alcohols are then removed by distillation in vacuo at a reduced pH of from 7 to 9. The resulting products, which can be used as detergents, cleaning agents, emulsifiers and dispersants, are distinguished by a very good colour and colour stability. Also the pH of aqueous solutions of these products is stable. |
