| abstract | A method is provided for making an electrical cable in which a core is enclosed in a corrugated metallic tape over which a coating of polymeric material is extruded at high temperature and under vacuum. In order to prevent penetration of water between the corrugated tape and the cable core, when after extrusion of the plastic coating it is cooled in a water trough, a strip of silicone is placed in at least one and preferably several corrugations across the width of the tape at the front end thereof, just prior to it being wrapped about the cable core. |
