titleOfInvention Ion mobility detector for supercritical fluid uses
abstract ABSTRACT A chemical detector and monitor system comprising an ion mobility detector cell having an ionization region adjoining a drift region and a detection region adjoining the drift region, a generally cup-shaped repeller electrode structure forming the end of the ionization region, and further comprising a hollow tube axially disposed within the repeller structure, constricted at the interior end to form a supercritical fluid restrictor, and connected both electrically and thermally to the repeller structure, provision for apparatus for maintaining the repeller and hollow tube at an electric potential greater than the rest of the detector cell, provision for apparatus for maintaining the repeller and tube structures at an elevated temperature, apparatus for connecting the repeller to the external source of supercritical fluid flow while electrically isolating the repeller and restrictor from the external supercritical fluid source, whereby target materials within the supercritical fluid flow are delivered into the ionization region of the apparatus for ionization and thence detection.
