abstract |
A process and apparatus for pulverization of natural and synthetic polymeric material by applying normal and shear forces sufficient to form fine powder by oppositely rotating generally conical meshing screws. The fine powder may be fluidized to prevent agglomeration and assist in its discharge. The process is suitable for thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers and foams. The process and apparatus are suitable for enhancement of reactivity of polymeric and solid monomeric material to form homopolymers, copolymers, and new polymeric materials. |
