A B S T R A C T PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A CATALYST FOR A CATALYST PRECURSOR A process for the preparation of a catalyst or catalyst precursor, comprises mulling a mixture comprising a refractory oxide or refractory oxide precursor, a solvent and a peptising agent; adding to the mixture a neutralising agent, which neutralising agent is a source of a catalytically active component; and extruding the resulting mixture. The process is particularly suited to the preparation of catalysts comprising as catalytically active components metals from Group VIII, which catalysts are useful in the synthesis of hydrocarbons from a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. |
