titleOfInvention | Controlling perfusion rates in continuous bioreactor culture of animal cells |
abstract | ,827-00 CONTROLLING PERFUSION RATES IN CONTINUOUS BIOREACTOR CULTURE OF ANIMAL CELLS ABSTRACT The invention is a method for controlling the perfusion rate of bioreactor cultures of animal cells, wherein the level of metabolic activity of the cells, as reflectod by a drop in pH and as measured by a pH probe, is used to activate 1) the perfusion of fresh medium containing standard cell nutrients and experi-mentally determined concentrations of energy source(s) and buffer, into the bioreactor and 2) the removal of culture fluid, which is depleted of nutrients and contains waste products, from the bioreactor. |
