abstract ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to certain microorganisms and to the use of these microorganisms to biodegrade monomers, oligomers, or combinations thereof. In addition, the present invention relates to a method of biodegrading monomers, oligomers or combinations thereof, by contacting microorganisms with culture medium, activated sludge or a buffer which include as a carbon source, for growing the microorganisms or as a metabolic substrate for resting cells, monomer, oligomers or a combination thereof. Further, the invention relates to a co-metabolism effect where the biodegradation of a first acrylic oligomer is accelerated by the presents of a second acrylic oligomer having a lower degree of polymerization than the first acrylic oligomer.
