ABSTRACT There are disclosed methods for the preparation of polyphenylene ether resins having increased hydroxyl content and, particularly, increased non-Mannich hydroxyl content through the reaction of biphenol with the polyphenylene ether resin. Also disclosed are the polyphenylene ether resins obtained by such processes, as well as the reaction products between such polyphenylene ether resins and hydroxyl-reactive substituents, such as epoxy chlorotriazines, and compositions containing such reaction products and thermoplastic resin not normally compatible with polyphenylene ether resin, such as polyester resin. |
