titleOfInvention Absorbent polymers, process for their fabrication, and application thereof, especially for hygiene articles
abstract TITLE of the INVENTION New absorbent polymers, manufacturing process and their application in particular to hygiene articles. TEXT OF THE ABBREVIATE Absorbent, crosslinked, hydrophobic, insoluble polymers in water, in the form of microbeads, based on silica and acrylic acid partially salified with a metal alkaline characterized by the fact that they can be obtained by a water suspension polymerization process in oil into which we introduce slowly, under agitation, in a perfectly deoxygenated oil phase maintained at boiling point and containing a protected colloid an aqueous phase obtained extemporaneously from on the one hand, an aqueous solution containing one or several initiators of water-soluble polymerizations, free radical generators, and secondly, a phase aqueous containing at a concentration of 50? 15% by weight a mixture containing by weight from 2 to 25% of silica colloidal and 98 to 75% of acrylic acid of which 60 to 80% are salified by an alkali metal, with a ratio by weight aqueous phase on oil phase between 0.8 and 1.2, then when the polymerization reaction is finished, it is removed by azeotropic distillation with recycling organic solvent from 15 to 55% of water present, then introduced into the reaction medium at the boiling point of 0.01 to 0.06% in molar proportions by compared to ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether monomers and we continue the azeotropic distillation of water residual until a suspension with a dryness rate of 85? 10% and we finally isolate by filtration of the desired polymer; application as compound absorbent and hygienic article and method of preparation.
