abstract Disclosed is a method of decomposing polyamide type high polymer compounds, in which polyamide type high polymer compounds are treated with wood-rotting basidiomycetous fungi, especially white wood-rotting basidiomycetous fungi, with incubating them under the condition of a medium having a nitrogen concentration of 0.1 g/liter or less and/or a carbon concentration of 0.2 g/liter or less. By the invention, polyamide type high polymer compounds such as water-insoluble high molecular weight nylons, which have heretofore been difficult to decompose and treat, can be decomposed efficiently.
