titleOfInvention Efficient gas hot-air furnace and heating process
abstract Space heating apparatus includes a combustion chamber (404) and a primary heat exchanger (420). The primary heat exchanger (420) receives the combustion gases and extracts the majority of the heat of combustion from the gases. The primary heat exchanger includes a porous heat sink member (411, 412), ducting for delivering the combustion gases to the heat sink member, a blower (409) and ducting for directing cool air along a cool air path to the heat sink member, and means for drawing the combustion gases (407) and cool air (409) through the porous heat sink member (411, 412) so that portions of the member alternately pass through the combustion-gas path and the cool-air path, to transfer heat from the combustion gases to the cool-air. Cool-air is directed to the heat sink member along two separate cool-air paths.
