abstract | ABSTRACT Novel pyridinium salts containing alkoxysilyl groups, of the general formula I: (I) in which Y(-) represents a halide ion, R1 and R2, which may be identical or different, represent an aliphatic radical having 1 to 12 C atoms, a cycloaliphatic radical having 5 to 7 C atoms or a benzyl radical, or may form together a group (-CH2-)a, wherein a represents 4, 5 or 6, which ring may be interrupted by an oxygen atom between two C atoms, wherein X is an organosilane radical in which R3 represents an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 C atoms, R4 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 C atoms or alkoxyalkyl group having a total number of C atoms of 2 to 4, m represents 0, 1 or 2 and n represents 1, 3 or 4. The novel compounds are useful as phase transfer catalysts for the preparation of methacryloyloxy- and acryloyloxyalkylalkoxysilanes. These catalysts have higher thermal stability than the known quaternary ammonium salts catalyst and ensure high yields and high purity of the silanes so produced. |
