abstract A process for producing an alkylbenzene in which benzene is reacted in a reaction zone with a charge containing an aliphatic monoolefin and / or an aliphatic alcohol in the presence of a dealuminated Y zeolite catalyst with a global Si / Al atomic ratio greater than 4, preferably between 8 and 70, and then the product obtained is fractionated so as to separately collect a first fraction containing unreacted benzene, a second fraction containing a monoalkylbenzene and a third fraction containing a poly-alkylbenzene, the third fraction then being at least partly recycled to said reaction zone where it reacts with benzene in the presence of said catalyst to be at least partially transalkylated, and at least a mono-alkylbenzene.
