Abstract A probe unit for an information processing device based on scanning tunnel microscopy comprises a substrate having a micro-protusion having a height of about 2 µm to 10 µm. Such unit can be formed with a sharp apex having a radius of curvature of about the order of one atomic radius and has excellent mechanical properties and in particular improved rigidity. |
