abstract | 54,188-A A B S T R A C T METHOD FOR MONITORING SULFATES AND OTHER IONS AT LOW CONCENTRATION A method for monitoring low anion concentra-tions, and particularly sulfate concentrations in aqueous solutions wherein the pH of the solution is adjusted to substantially reduce the presence of hydroxides therein, a nonionic solvent which does not contain sulfonate groups, is mixed with the solution, the mixture is exposed to an electrode selective for sulfate ions and to a counter electrode and the difference in voltage across the electrodes is measured to determine even trace amounts of sulfates in the solution. |
