titleOfInvention | Cyclic amidocarboxy surfactants, synthesis and use thereof |
abstract | CYCLIC AMIDOCARBOXY SURFACTANTS SYNTHESIS AND USE THEREOF ABSTRACT Cyclic amidocarboxy surfactants having the general formula: (I) wherein: R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting essentially of H or C1 - C40 linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkylene, alkaryl, aryl or R3-O-R4 groups, with R3 and R4 being independently selected from the group consisting essentially of C1 - C22 linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkylene, alkaryl and aryl groups; y is an integer of a value satisfying the valency of M; and M is a cation and is preferably selected from the groups consisting of Na, K, NH4 [including (CH3CH2)3NH, (CH3CH2)2NH2, (HOCH2CH2)3NH, (HOCH2CH2)2NH2 and similar ammonium derivatives], Ba, Ca, Mg, Al, T, Zr and mixtures thereof. These surfactants are useful in a variety of technical applications, such as fast-break emulsifiers in personal care products; destructible latex polymerization surfactants in manufacture and compounding of various coating or adhesive systems; domestic fabric softening agents; foodstuff emulsifiers; caustic-stabile surfactants; bleach-stabile surfactants; various domestic detergents and hard surface cleaners, emulsifiers for portlane cement and concrete; floatation/benefication agents for mining/processing various mineral ores; additives for electroplating and/or surface finishing for metal goods; additives for plaster, gypsum and miscellaneous building materials; enhanced oil recovery additives; wetting and lubricating agents for industrial textile processing; compatibilizers/surfactants for polyurethane/isocyanurate foam systems, wood pulping additives; emulsifiers for various industrial surfactant systems, such as fatty alcohol/water emulsions; pour-point depressants for transporting petroleum crude oils, suspension agents for various particulate materials, such as anti-dandruff materials, i.e., sulfur, zinc pyrithone, etc. and other particulate materials, such as pulverized coal, and other similar uses. |
