abstract TITLE EXHAUST VALVE APPLICANT KOCKUMS MARINE AB INVENTOR Sven Erik Roland OLSSON ABSTRACT An exhaust valve that is suitable for use in co-operation with an internal combustion engine located in a submarine, has a valve seat formed therein and a valve element movable in the housing and supporting the valve element for movement between an open and a closed position and including a supporting device comprising a preferably cylindrical sleeve and a rod which axially displaces, in said sleeve between an upper and lower position, the rod extending out of the sleeve toward the valve element and being connected at its protruding end with a valve element for transmitting axial as well as rotational movement of the rod and wherein the rod and sleeve are provided with mutually co-operating rims in grooves adapted to impart the rotational movement to the rod during axial displacement of the rod in the sleeve and to inmpart to the valve element, a rotational movement relative to the valve seat before the valve element during opening, is lifted away from the valve seat and on closing, has been brought into engagement with the valve seat.
