abstract Abstract of the Disclosure A method for preparing printing inks containing microcapsules for application on a forms press is disclosed wherein microcapsules are prepared using the essential printing vehicle as continuous phase in the emulsification, namely a mixture of water and a water-miscible non-aqueous solvent; the microcapsule shells are prepared by interfacial reaction of two wall forming reactants -- one contained in the internal phase, and the other preferably added as a non-aqueous, water soluble solution to further reduce the water content in the final printing ink; the method yields a slurry of microcapsules containing a low concentration of water, which after slight modification by added anti-curl compounds and a low amount of binder, can be directly printed onto a paper web without drying steps.
