titleOfInvention | 1h-imidazo¬4,5-c|quinolin-4-amines |
abstract | ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Disclosed are novel 1H-imidazo-[4,5-c[quinolin-4-amines which function as antiviral agents, and are potential synthetic intermediates in the preparation of known antiviral agents and labeled known antiviral agents. Also disclosed are processes for preparing such compounds and pharmaceutical composition containing them. These new compounds are of formula I: (I) wherein R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C8-alkyl, benzyl, (phenyl)ethyl and phenyl, the benzyl, (phenyl)ethyl or phenyl substituent being optionally substituted on the benzene ring by one or two moieties independently selected from the group consisting of C1-C4-alkyl atoms, C1-C4-alkoxy, and halogen, with the proviso that when the benzene ring is substituted by two such moieties, then the moieties together contain no more than 6 carbon atoms; and each R is independently selected from the group consisting of C1-C4-alkoxy, halogen, and C1-C4-alkyl, and n is an integer from zero to 2, with the proviso that if n is 2, then said R groups together contain no more than 6 carbon atoms. |
