abstract | ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A reaction product is polymerized with a norbornene-type monomer in the presence of a metathesis ring-opening catalyst system to produce a thermoset polymeric product which has high glass transition temperature, improved impact strength, and leaves clean mold surfaces where it was molded. In a preferred embodiment, the reaction product is obtained by heating dicyclopentadiene with an elastomer having olefinic bonds in presence or absence of at least one norbornene-type monomer.
